The (Re)Source: Hope for Prison Families
The (Re)Source is a source of inspiration and hope for prison families. The Source of inspiration and hope is found in Jesus Christ and His Holy Word.
The prison journey is not a journey families desire to embark. It is …
- Guilt ridden
Families of the suspect, offender, and convict are victims of the crime and conviction of their loved one.
Families are left to pick up the broken pieces while dealing with the shock of the new reality their lives have entered.
There’s a separation in physical bonding as well as very limited communication.
But beyond the practical needs that must be met, there are a myriad of emotional hurts and wounds that need to be dealt with. More often than not, these emotions are tucked away or ignored as this is not a topic discussed openly in society. Not in our churches. Not in the workplace. Not in our social circles.
As my life took this unexpected journey when my son was sentenced to prison, I found a source of hope in Jesus Christ. I got to know my Savior more personally through the Word of God.
The Holy Bible–our source of hope
Through my grief and healing process, my heart has been drawn to other hurting families. Often I’m introduced to other hurting moms or wives with loved ones incarcerated. Just like I was, these families are suffering in silence as there’s not support for the prisoners of families.
Families of prisoners have very few places to turn for direction, support, or encouragement. So most of them keep silent about the situation due to the negative stigma attached.
In order to change that, by God’s wild grace and His infusion of courage in me, I am sharing my story publicly.
God has now given me a new dream … a dream to build a community where families of the incarcerated can find relief from emotional bondage, find redemption, be renewed, be refreshed, rebuild lives, and be restored in Christ Jesus.
Thus far I’ve learned that families who remain strong in the Lord and pray for their incarcerated loved ones, make a significant difference for the family member behind bars. As family on the outside, we need to show those inside that God loves them, we love them, and there is hope in Christ!
To keep families strong and build up the hope we have in the Word of God, I started an email subscription based newsletter with spiritual articles and lessons directed to the needs of prison families.

Blessings in Christ our Lord!
